Adding -c flag to ssh remote host with visual studio code
To add the -c
flag to the SSH remote host configuration in Visual Studio Code, you can modify the .ssh/config
file on your local machine. Here's how you can do it:
Open a terminal or command prompt on your local machine.
Navigate to the
.ssh
directory. Typically, it is located in your user's home directory. For example, on Windows, the path is usuallyC:\Users\YourUsername\.ssh
, and on Linux/Mac, it is/home/YourUsername/.ssh
.Locate or create the
config
file in the.ssh
directory.Open the
config
file using a text editor.Add or modify the configuration for the SSH remote host you want to connect to. The configuration should include the
-c
flag along with the desired cipher. For example:markdownHost remotehostname
HostName example.com
User username
Port 22
Cipher ciphername
Replace
remotehostname
with the desired hostname alias for the remote host,example.com
with the actual hostname or IP address of the remote host, username
with your username on the remote host,22
with the SSH port number if it is different from the default (22), andciphername
with the desired cipher.Save the
config
file.
After making these changes, Visual Studio Code should use the specified cipher when connecting to the remote host using the configured alias.
Please note that modifying the .ssh/config
file requires administrative privileges on Windows. If you are on Windows, ensure that you open the text editor with administrative privileges to save the changes.
