Cannot read existing register value

To read an existing register value in Windows, you can use the reg query
command in Command Prompt. Here's an example command to read the value of the ImagePath
entry under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SampleService
registry key:
bashreg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SampleService" /v ImagePath
Replace SampleService
with the name of the registry key you want to read, and ImagePath
with the name of the registry value you want to read.
This command will output the registry value data along with its type in the following format:
markdownHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SampleService
ImagePath REG_EXPAND_SZ C:\Windows\System32\SampleService.exe
You can then parse the output to extract the value data. In this example, the value data is C:\Windows\System32\SampleService.exe
.
