ClamAV clamscan not scanning for infected files present inside an archived file
When using ClamAV's clamscan
command, by default, it does not scan the contents of archived files (e.g., zip, tar) to improve performance. However, you can enable archive scanning using the --recursive
option.
Here's an example of how to scan for infected files inside an archived file using clamscan
:
shellclamscan --recursive /path/to/archive.zip
The --recursive
option tells clamscan
to recursively scan the contents of the archived file. Replace /path/to/archive.zip
with the actual path to your archived file.
Additionally, ensure that your ClamAV installation is up-to-date and that the virus database is regularly updated to detect the latest threats.
Please note that scanning the contents of archived files can be resource-intensive and may increase the scanning time significantly. Use this option with caution and consider the performance impact on your system.
