cmd or PowerShell equivalent to macOS' dns-sd command?
On Windows, the equivalent commands to macOS' dns-sd
for browsing and resolving DNS-based service discovery (DNS-SD) services are nslookup
and ipconfig
.
nslookup
: This command-line tool allows you to query DNS servers for information about domain names or IP addresses. You can use it to resolve hostnames and retrieve DNS records. Here's an example of usingnslookup
to resolve a DNS-SD service:bashnslookup _http._tcp.local
This command will query the DNS servers and display the IP address and other details associated with the
_http._tcp.local
service.ipconfig
: This command-line utility provides information about network interfaces on your Windows system, including IP configuration details. You can use it to view the IP addresses of local DNS-SD services. Here's an example:bashipconfig /all
Running this command will display network interface information, including IP addresses, subnet masks, and DNS server configurations. Look for the appropriate network interface and check for DNS-SD service entries.
These commands allow you to browse and resolve DNS-based service discovery services on Windows systems. While they are not direct replacements for the dns-sd
command on macOS, they provide similar functionality for DNS-related tasks.
