Duplication of specific file format
If you want to duplicate (copy) all files of a specific format (e.g., .txt
, .jpg
, etc.) from one directory to another using the Windows Command Prompt, you can use the xcopy
or robocopy
commands. Both commands allow you to specify criteria for copying files based on their format.
Here's how you can use these commands:
- Using
xcopy
:
Thexcopy
command is a simple way to copy files and directories.
cmdxcopy "source\path\*.txt" "destination\path" /Y
Replace "source\path\*.txt"
with the path to the source directory containing the files you want to copy and "destination\path"
with the path to the destination directory where you want the files to be copied. The /Y
flag suppresses the confirmation prompt.
- Using
robocopy
:
Therobocopy
command provides more advanced copying options and is suitable for larger tasks.
cmdrobocopy "source\path" "destination\path" *.txt
Replace "source\path"
and "destination\path"
as before. *.txt
specifies the files to be copied based on the extension .txt
.
These commands will copy all files of the specified format from the source directory to the destination directory. Make sure to adjust the paths and file formats as needed for your specific use case.
