Get otvdm (aka winevdm) to run 16-bits applications automatically
To get OTVDM (also known as WineVDM) to run 16-bit applications automatically, you can create a batch script that launches the 16-bit application using OTVDM. Here's an example:
- Open a text editor and create a new file.
- Add the following code to the file:
batch@echo off
start "" /d "C:\Path\To\OTVDM" otvdm.exe /b /f "C:\Path\To\16BitApp.exe"
Make sure to replace "C:\Path\To\OTVDM"
with the actual path to the OTVDM directory, and "C:\Path\To\16BitApp.exe"
with the path to your 16-bit application.
- Save the file with a
.bat
extension, such asRun16BitApp.bat
.
Now, when you run the Run16BitApp.bat
batch script, it will automatically launch the specified 16-bit application using OTVDM. The /b
flag ensures that the application runs in the background, and the /f
flag specifies the path to the 16-bit application.
You can create separate batch scripts for different 16-bit applications if needed. Simply modify the script and specify the appropriate paths for each application.
Note that OTVDM (WineVDM) is a community-driven project that aims to provide support for running 16-bit Windows applications on modern versions of Windows. It may have limitations and may not be compatible with all 16-bit applications. Make sure to refer to the OTVDM documentation and community resources for further guidance and troubleshooting specific to your application's requirements.
