How do I get Cypress to detect my existing Chrome browser after upgrade?
If you have upgraded your Chrome browser and Cypress is not detecting it, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:
Update Cypress: Make sure you have the latest version of Cypress installed by running
npm install cypress@latest
in your project directory.Clear Cypress cache: Run
npx cypress cache clear
to clear the Cypress binary cache.Reset Chrome profile: Reset your Chrome browser profile to ensure that any conflicting settings or extensions are removed. Open Chrome, go to Settings > Advanced > Reset and clean up > Restore settings to their original defaults.
Reinstall Cypress: Remove the existing Cypress installation by running
npm uninstall cypress
and then reinstall it usingnpm install cypress
.Verify Chrome path: Make sure that the Chrome executable path is correctly configured in your Cypress configuration file (
cypress.json
). The"chromeWebSecurity": false
flag can also be added to the configuration file if necessary.Restart Cypress: Close and restart Cypress to ensure that it picks up the changes and detects your upgraded Chrome browser.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to further troubleshoot or seek assistance from the Cypress community or support channels.
