How to create a fake/dummy Windows tree from other Windows tree with Windows shell?
To create a fake/dummy Windows tree from an existing Windows tree using the Windows shell, you can use the robocopy
command with the /create
and /e
options. The /create
option will create the dummy files without copying any data, and the /e
option will include empty directories in the tree.
Here's an example command:
batchrobocopy "source_directory" "destination_directory" /create /e
Replace "source_directory" with the path to the existing Windows tree that you want to replicate, and "destination_directory" with the path to the location where you want to create the fake/dummy Windows tree.
Running this command will create a replica of the directory structure, including empty files, in the destination directory without copying any data from the source directory.
Note that the robocopy
command is built into Windows, so you don't need to install any additional software.
