How to make Sublime's python interpreter work when Sublime's on Windows and Python is on Ubuntu
To configure Sublime Text on Windows to use a Python interpreter located on Ubuntu, you can follow these steps:
Install Sublime Text: Download and install Sublime Text on your Windows machine from the official Sublime Text website.
Install Package Control: Open Sublime Text and install Package Control if you haven't already. Package Control allows you to easily manage and install additional packages.
To install Package Control, open the Sublime Text console by pressing
Ctrl+`` (backtick) or going to
View -> Show Console`. Then, paste the installation code from the Package Control website (https://packagecontrol.io/installation) into the console and press Enter.Install the SublimeREPL Package: With Package Control installed, you can now install the SublimeREPL package, which provides a REPL (Read-Eval-Print Loop) environment within Sublime Text.
To install SublimeREPL, open the Command Palette by pressing
Ctrl+Shift+P
or going toTools -> Command Palette
. Type "Package Control: Install Package" and select it. Then, search for "SublimeREPL" and install it.Configure the Python Interpreter: Once SublimeREPL is installed, you can configure the Python interpreter to use the one located on your Ubuntu machine.
- Open a Python file in Sublime Text.
- Go to
Tools -> SublimeREPL -> Python -> Python - Main
. - This will open a new Sublime Text window with the Python interpreter running. Within the SublimeREPL window, go to
Tools -> SublimeREPL -> Python -> Python - Change Interpreter
. - Enter the SSH command to connect to your Ubuntu machine and specify the path to the Python interpreter. For example:sql
ssh user@ubuntu-machine "python3"
- Save the configuration and exit the SublimeREPL window.
Test the Configuration: Now you can test the configuration by opening a Python file in Sublime Text and running it with the configured Python interpreter.
- Open a Python file.
- Go to
Tools -> SublimeREPL -> Python -> Python - Main
. - The file will be executed using the Python interpreter on your Ubuntu machine, and the output will be displayed in the Sublime Text console.
By following these steps, you can configure Sublime Text on Windows to use a Python interpreter located on your Ubuntu machine for Python development.
