How to run a python module with -m from windows command line
To run a Python module using the -m
option from the Windows command line, follow these steps:
Open the Windows Command Prompt.
Navigate to the directory where your Python interpreter is installed. By default, it is usually located at
C:\PythonXX
(whereXX
represents the version number).Enter the following command to run the Python module using the
-m
option:python -m module_name
Replace
module_name
with the name of the Python module you want to run.For example, if you want to run the
unittest
module, you would use the following command:python -m unittest
If you have multiple Python installations on your system, make sure that the
python
command in the command prompt refers to the correct Python interpreter you want to use.Press Enter to execute the command. The specified Python module will be executed using the
-m
option, which allows you to run the module as a script.
Running a Python module with the -m
option is useful when you want to execute a module without explicitly specifying the file path, especially when the module is part of a package or when you want to execute a built-in Python module.
Note: Make sure that the Python interpreter is properly installed and added to your system's PATH environment variable for the python
command to be recognized in the Windows Command Prompt.
