How to save docker windows images?
To save Docker Windows images, you can use the docker save
command. However, it's important to note that Windows images can be quite large, so ensure you have sufficient storage space available.
Here are the steps to save a Docker Windows image:
Open a command prompt or PowerShell window.
Run the following command to save the Docker Windows image:
arduinodocker save -o image.tar image_name:tag
Replace
image_name:tag
with the name and tag of the Windows image you want to save. For example,microsoft/windowsservercore:ltsc2019
.After running the command, Docker will create a TAR file called
image.tar
in the current directory. This file contains the saved Windows image.
You can now transfer the image.tar
file to another machine or store it as a backup. To load the saved image back into Docker, use the docker load
command on the target machine.
To load the saved Windows image:
Transfer the
image.tar
file to the target machine.Open a command prompt or PowerShell window on the target machine.
Run the following command to load the saved Docker Windows image:
arduinodocker load -i image.tar
Docker will import the image into the local Docker registry on the target machine.
You can now use the loaded Windows image on the target machine for running containers.
By following these steps, you can save Docker Windows images as a TAR file and load them back into Docker when needed.
