How to uninstall (mini)conda entirely on Windows
To uninstall Miniconda or Anaconda entirely on Windows, follow these steps:
Open the "Start" menu and search for "Anaconda Prompt" or "Miniconda Prompt." Right-click on it and select "Run as administrator." If you don't have the prompt available, you can open a regular Command Prompt or PowerShell with administrative privileges.
In the prompt, execute the following command to uninstall Anaconda or Miniconda:
For Anaconda:
bashanaconda-clean --yes
For Miniconda:
bashminiconda-uninstall --yes
The
--yes
flag is used to automatically confirm the uninstallation. After running the command, you'll be asked if you want to remove any additional packages or backups. Type 'y' and press Enter to proceed with the uninstallation.
The uninstall process will remove the Anaconda/Miniconda installation and any packages that were installed with it.
Next, remove the remaining Anaconda/Miniconda files and directories. By default, Anaconda/Miniconda is installed in the
C:\ProgramData
directory. Delete the Anaconda or Miniconda folder (e.g.,C:\ProgramData\Anaconda3
orC:\ProgramData\Miniconda3
) and any other related folders or shortcuts. Finally, remove the Anaconda/Miniconda environment variables from your system. Right-click on "This PC" or "My Computer" and select "Properties." Then, click on "Advanced system settings," go to the "Advanced" tab, and click on "Environment Variables." Look for any Anaconda or Miniconda-related variables (e.g.,
ANACONDA
,CONDA
,MINICONDA
, etc.) and remove them.
With these steps, you should have completely uninstalled Anaconda/Miniconda from your Windows system. Note that the exact paths and environment variables may vary depending on your specific installation configuration. If you encounter any issues during the uninstallation process, you can manually remove the relevant directories and environment variables as needed.
