Install python modules on windows without admin rights
If you don't have administrative rights on your Windows machine, you can still install Python modules locally for your user account without affecting the system-wide Python installation. One way to do this is by using the --user
flag with pip
, which will install the packages in your user's local site-packages
directory.
Here are the steps to install Python modules without admin rights:
Open a Command Prompt or PowerShell window.
Use the following command to install the desired Python module(s):
bashpip install --user package_name
Replace
package_name
with the name of the Python module you want to install. If you need to install multiple packages, you can list them separated by spaces:
bashpip install --user package1 package2 package3
Wait for the installation to complete. The packages will be installed in your user's local
site-packages
directory, typically located atC:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Python\PythonXX\site-packages
.Once the installation is done, you can use the Python module in your user scripts or projects.
Remember that the installed packages will only be available for your user account and will not affect other users on the system. Also, make sure that the Python executable is in your system's PATH variable to access the installed packages conveniently from any location.
