Merging multiple csv files in cmd
You can merge multiple CSV files in the Windows Command Prompt (cmd) using the copy
command. Here's how you can do it:
Open the Command Prompt by pressing
Win + R
, typecmd
, and press Enter.Navigate to the directory where your CSV files are located. For example, if your CSV files are in
C:\CSV_Files
, you can use the following command to navigate to that directory:bashcd C:\CSV_Files
Use the
copy
command to merge the CSV files. For example, to merge all CSV files in the current directory into a new file calledmerged.csv
, you can use the following command:gocopy *.csv merged.csv
This will merge all CSV files in the current directory into a single file named
merged.csv
.If you want to merge CSV files from multiple directories, you can specify the full paths of the files in the
copy
command. For example:gocopy "C:\CSV_Files\file1.csv" + "D:\CSV_Files\file2.csv" + "E:\CSV_Files\file3.csv" merged.csv
This will merge
file1.csv
,file2.csv
, andfile3.csv
from different directories into a single file namedmerged.csv
.
Keep in mind that the copy
command simply concatenates the files together, so if the CSV files have headers, the header row will be repeated in the merged file. If you want to remove duplicate header rows, you can open the merged CSV file in a text editor or a spreadsheet application and remove the duplicates manually. Alternatively, you can use more advanced scripting languages like Python or PowerShell to perform more complex CSV merging operations.
