Open explorer on a network path
To open Windows Explorer on a network path, you can use the explorer
command in the Command Prompt or PowerShell. Here's how to do it:
Open the Command Prompt or PowerShell on your Windows machine.
Type the following command and replace
\\server\share\folder
with the network path you want to open:
bashexplorer \\server\share\folder
For example:
bashexplorer \\192.168.1.100\shared\documents
- Press Enter, and Windows Explorer will open, displaying the contents of the network path you specified.
If the network path requires authentication, you may need to provide the appropriate credentials before Windows Explorer can access the shared folder.
Alternatively, you can use the start
command in Command Prompt or PowerShell:
bashstart "" "\\server\share\folder"
Using start
can sometimes provide more control over the way the window is opened. The empty double quotes ""
are used to specify an optional window title for the command, which is necessary when using the start
command with a network path.
Remember that accessing network paths might require proper network permissions and credentials to be set up in order to view the shared folders and files.
