Run appcmd command from shortcut
To run an appcmd
command from a shortcut in Windows, you can create a batch script that contains the desired appcmd
command and then create a shortcut to run that batch script. Here's how you can do it:
Create a new text file and open it in a text editor.
Write the
appcmd
command in the text file, for example:appcmd.exe your_appcmd_command_here
Replace
your_appcmd_command_here
with the actualappcmd
command you want to run.Save the text file with a
.bat
extension to create a batch script. For example, you can save it asappcmd_script.bat
.Right-click on the batch script file (
appcmd_script.bat
) and select "Create shortcut" from the context menu. You will now have a shortcut file (
appcmd_script.bat.lnk
) created in the same directory. You can move this shortcut to any desired location, such as the desktop or Start menu.Double-click on the shortcut to execute the
appcmd
command specified in the batch script.
When you double-click on the shortcut, it will run the batch script, which in turn executes the appcmd
command you specified. This allows you to conveniently run the appcmd
command with a single click on the shortcut.
Make sure that the appcmd.exe
executable is in your system's PATH environment variable, or provide the full path to appcmd.exe
in the batch script if it is located in a specific directory.
Note: Running commands that modify IIS configuration using appcmd
typically requires administrative privileges. Make sure you run the shortcut as an administrator if your appcmd
command requires elevated privileges.
