Using 'echo' in a way that automatically fits the row width
In the Windows Command Prompt, the echo
command does not have built-in functionality to automatically fit the output to the row width. However, you can achieve a similar effect using the more
command, which allows you to paginate the output and display it one screen at a time.
Here's an example of how you can use echo
with more
to automatically fit the row width:
batch@echo off
echo Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Curabitur ac velit sed nulla placerat pellentesque ac ac libero. | more
In this example, the text "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Curabitur ac velit sed nulla placerat pellentesque ac ac libero." is piped into the more
command. The more
command displays the output one screen at a time, allowing you to read the content more conveniently.
You can adjust the text within the echo
command to fit your specific needs. Note that more
may introduce pauses or breaks in the output, so it might not be suitable for all use cases.
