Why does WMI show duplicate entries for the same A/V product in \\root\SecurityCenter2?
The duplicate entries for the same antivirus product in the \\root\SecurityCenter2
namespace of WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) may be caused by multiple factors:
Multiple security software installations: If you have multiple antivirus or security software installed on your system, each product may register itself with the Security Center, resulting in multiple entries.
Inconsistent registration: Sometimes, the antivirus products may not properly unregister themselves from the Security Center when they are uninstalled, leading to duplicate entries.
WMI repository issues: In some cases, issues with the WMI repository itself can cause duplication of entries.
To address this issue, you can try the following steps:
Restart the WMI service: Open an elevated command prompt and run the following command:
arduinonet stop winmgmt
net start winmgmt
Rebuild the WMI repository: Open an elevated command prompt and run the following commands:
bashwinmgmt /verifyrepository
winmgmt /salvagerepository
Remove duplicate entries manually: If the issue persists, you can try removing the duplicate entries manually from the
\\root\SecurityCenter2
namespace. To do this, follow these steps:- Open the WMI CIM Studio or any other WMI browser tool.
- Connect to the
\\root\SecurityCenter2
namespace. - Navigate to the
AntiVirusProduct
class. - Identify the duplicate entries and delete them.
Please exercise caution when modifying the WMI repository, as incorrect modifications can lead to system issues. It is recommended to create a backup or restore point before making any changes.
Keep in mind that the Security Center is a Windows component, and the behavior of antivirus products in relation to the Security Center may vary depending on the specific product and version you are using.
