Why `ltsc2022` cannot be used with gke-windows-tool on GCP?
The ltsc2022
operating system version is not currently supported by the gke-windows-tool
utility on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
The gke-windows-tool
utility is used to create and manage Windows Server containers on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). However, the utility only supports a limited set of Windows Server operating system versions that are validated by GCP. These versions include:
ltsc2019
sac2019
ltsc2016
sac2016
The ltsc2022
version is not currently supported because it is a newer release that has not yet been validated by GCP. It is possible that support for this version may be added in the future, but there is no timeline for this at the moment.
If you need to use ltsc2022
with Windows Server containers on GKE, you may need to use a different method, such as building and deploying your own custom Windows Server container images. However, this will require more manual configuration and maintenance than using the gke-windows-tool
utility. Additionally, custom container images may not be covered by GCP support agreements.
