Windows 11 - Not kind sort command for viewing all files in subfolders
To view all files in subfolders in Windows 11 without grouping them by kind, you can use the dir
command with the /s
parameter. Here's how you can do it:
Open the Command Prompt or Windows PowerShell.
Navigate to the root folder where you want to start listing the files. For example, if you want to list files in the
C:\MyFolder
directory and its subfolders, run:bashcd C:\MyFolder
Run the following command to list all files in subfolders without grouping them by kind:
bashdir /s /b /a-d
- The
/s
parameter tells thedir
command to include subdirectories recursively. - The
/b
parameter displays only the file names without additional information. - The
/a-d
parameter excludes directories from the listing, showing only files.
- The
This command will display a list of all files in the specified directory and its subfolders, without grouping them by kind.
Adjust the path in the cd
command to the desired root folder, or specify the full path directly in the dir
command if you don't need to navigate to a specific folder.
Note that the output of the dir
command will be displayed in the command prompt window. If you want to save the file list to a text file, you can redirect the output to a file using the >
symbol. For example:
bashdir /s /b /a-d > filelist.txt
This will save the file list to a file named filelist.txt
in the current directory.
