Windows CMD - Find current baud rate of COM port
To find the current baud rate of a COM port in Windows Command Prompt (CMD), you can use the mode
command. Here's how you can do it:
Open Command Prompt: Press the Windows key + R, type "cmd", and press Enter to open Command Prompt.
Run the
mode
command: In Command Prompt, run the following command:bashmode <COMx>
Replace
<COMx>
with the actual COM port number you want to check (e.g.,COM1
,COM2
, etc.).For example, if you want to check the baud rate of COM1, you would run:
bashmode COM1
Check the output: The
mode
command will display the current settings of the specified COM port, including the baud rate. Look for the line that starts with "Baud".For example, the output might look like this:
yamlStatus for device COM1:
-----------------------
Baud: 9600
Parity: None
Data Bits: 8
Stop Bits: 1
Timeout: OFF
XON/XOFF: OFF
CTS handshaking: OFF
DSR handshaking: OFF
DSR sensitivity: OFF
DTR circuit: OFF
RTS circuit: OFF
In this example, the baud rate of COM1 is set to 9600.
By using the mode
command in Command Prompt with the appropriate COM port number, you can retrieve the current baud rate setting of the specified COM port.
